CAN ANYONE STOP FAST COMPANY?

The Nawiliwili Yacht Club Rum Race #3 was held on 4/18/19. Three laps were raced over 5.92 miles in 10 knots of wind out of the east northeast. Fast Company again had a good start at the pin end to weather of the other boats. Double Espresso with the adult sailing students looked impressive for a long time in second place behind Fast Company. Fast Company however held the lead throughout the entire race, although Kato challenged at times. Weatherly, with the junior sailors, was doing remarkably well and stayed in front of Ozone for the entire race. Ozone only had 3 crew and so they never flew their spinnaker (excuses, excuses!).

All of these Olson 30’s had to worry about Papa Au the Express 27 who stayed in the mix and who could potentially correct over them with their handicap rating. The final results showed Fast Company in first place in PHRF (3rd time in a row) with a time of 1:10:02, Kato in second place at 1:12:18 and Papa Au in third at 1:16:57. In the Club class it was Weatherly in first place, Double Espresso in second and Ozone in third.

The 4th race of the Rum Series will be held on Thursday 4/25/19 with a 5pm start. The public is invited to watch from the Nawiliwili Harbor Jetty parking area.
