NYC Lighted Boat Parade
As the sun sank to the west of Nawiliwili Harbor, the Spirit of Christmas began to rise from the Nawiliwili Yacht Club. Three boats launched from the small boat harbor as it turned dark. However these boats shown brightly in the ensuing blackness, for they were brightly lit with Yule spirit. Bright colors outlined forestays, masts, and gunnels, with garland trimming rails and lifelines. Snow fell and sparkled and icicles hung from biminis in the 78 degree evening air. But for all of the music and lighting, the brightest sight was the smiling faces of the merry boaters and the electric feeling as the vessels formed into a parade. The parade flowed through the harbor past the mole which was full of spectators, waving at the bobbing boats as they drifted by and danced in the waves. The parade made a few passes back and forth, and each boat did a pirouette for the crowd. Well done to the crews of Ewa, Lisa Rae and the Boston Whaler who added a nautical touch for Christmas!!
