Fish On!!
Nawiliwili Yacht Club held their 16th annual Keiki Fish Tournament on June 18th (Father’s Day). This catch-and-release event was a big hit for the 80 keikis that entered. The youngsters could be seen fishing from the shoreline surrounding the club house 11a.m. to 12:30p.m. The kids were instructed to haul their catches in buckets filled with seawater to the judges for measurement and classification. After the allotted time for fishing was over but before the awards were announced, the crowd of participants and their families enjoyed playing bingo with Jan Martinez calling out the numbers. Master of Ceremony, Jim Saylor, regaled the crowd in his big yellow fish hat before announcing the winners for all the special fish categories. The categories included First Fish Caught, Prettiest Fish, Best Kisser Fish, Ugliest Fish, and Best Backward Swimming Fish. All Keiki participants earned a prize ranging from new fishing rigs to Hot Wheel cars. Nawiliwili Yacht Club would like to thank all the club members who volunteered and also thanks all the sponsors that made this fishing tournament successful.
